Singapore Marime Academy - history began in 1957 when the Singapore Polytechnic took over the responsibility of navigation classes from the Sailor’s Institution. Thus, it has almost 50 years of experience in the field of Maritime Education and Training. |

The institute has three distinct areas of operation: Marine Engineering, Navigation Technology and Shipping Management. As the country’s main maritime training institution, SMA offers a full range of Maritime Diplomas, Specialist Diplomas as well as Certificate of Competency Courses and Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) Courses.

The institute resources range from state-of-the-art Simulators in Navigation, Communication, Cargo-handling and Ship's Engine to sophisticated Electrical, Electronics and IT-based Shipping Commerce & Trading laboratories. A Marina close to the Polytechnic houses our seamanship training centre. Here, we have our canoes, yachts, training boats and lifeboats. This facility is also used as a Yachting Centre to promote a healthy lifestyle amongst students. |
