  • HND (Nautical Science) - in collaboration with Glasgow College of Nautical Studies, Glasgow, UK, a 2 year course, 1st year at AMET, 2nd year at GCNS, UK & STC , UK
  • HND (Marine Engineering) - in collaboration with Glasgow College of Nautical Studies, Glasgow, UK, a 2 year course, 1st year at AMET, 2nd year at GCNS, UK & STC , UK
  • Graduate Mechanical Engineer (GME) course – one year course at AMET.
  Eligibility Conditions for Various Courses :
     
  B.E. Marine Engineering  
 
  • Age : 17 to 20 years as on 1st July
  • Educational qualifications : Pass in (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60% ( OR )
  • Candidates can join (22 years )2nd year of 4-year Marine Engineering Degree course provided he has passed 1st year training from the Alternate Training Scheme, approved by D.G Shipping .( This will not be applicable to MERI)
  • Candidates can join (22 years )2nd year of 4-year Marine Engineering Degree course who have passed 1st year from the engineering college in other streams like Mechanical or Electrical approved by AICTE with minimum 60% average marks. (OR)
  • Candidates can join(22 years ) 2nd year of 4- year Marine Engineering Degree Course who have passed 3 years Diploma course in Mechanical / Marine /Electrical /Electrical and Electronics from the colleges approved by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education with minimum 55% of aggregate marks in the last year of Diploma Course.
  • The candidate should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th std or in the Degree/Diploma course conducted by recognized Board or any University.
  • Medical : Medically fit for sea service with eye sight up to +/- 2.5 with no colour blindness
 
  B.E. Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering  
 
  • Age : 17 to 20 years as on 1st July
  • Educational Qualification : A pass in Plus Two (12th Standard) or its equivalent with minimum 55% aggregate in Maths, Physics and Chemistry from any Board.
  • Entry to the course will be at the discretion of the Director of the Academy.
 
  B.E. Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering [Lateral Entry Scheme]  
 
  • Age : 17 to 20 years as on 1st July
  • Educational Qualification : Student who completed Diploma in Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / Elctronics Engineering or Technology. [OR]
  • Student who completed B.Sc. in Maths / Physics / Chemistry with Mathematics as one of the subject.
  • Entry to the course will be at the discretion of the Director of the Academy.
 
  B.E Electrical & Electronics Engineering - Marine 4 years  
 
  • Pass in +2 with minimum of 70% marks in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English in Tamilnadu State Board, Matriculation or CBSE syllabus.
  • The students from other states and countries are eligible according to the above conditions.
 
  B.E Harbour Engineering and Offshore Technology 4 years  
 
  • Pass in +2 with minimum of 50% marks in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
 
  B.E Applied Marine Information Technology and Communications 4 years  
 
  • Pass in +2 with minimum of 70% marks in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English in Tamilnadu State Board, Matriculation or CBSE syllabus.

  B.Sc Nautical Science  
 
  • Age : 17 to 20 years as on 1st July

  Graduate Mechanical Engineer (GME)  
 
  • Age : Maximum 24 years on commencement of course.
  • Eligibility : B.E (Mechanical) Engineering / Naval Arch. with minimum 50% marks in final year and with minimum 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th or in Degree Exam.
  • Medical : Medically fit for sea service with eye sight up to +/- 2.5 with no colour blindness
 
  HND Nautical Science  
 
  • Age : 17 to 20 years at the time of entry.
  • Educational qualifications : Plus 2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and 50% in English
  • Medical : Medically fit for sea with eye sight 6/6 with no colour blindness
 
  HND Marine Engineering

  • Candidates possessing any of the above qualifications and possessing minimum two years of work experience either in Institutes of Hotel Management or in Hotel and allied industry can also apply the category of sponsored candidates.
 
  M.A Maritime Law and Marine Insurance 2 years  
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or) Equivalent professional qualification from a recognized university.
  • Students who do not have a formally recognized relevant qualification may also apply if they can show that they have ‘relevant maritime experience’ gained through employment.
 
  M.E Technical Operations and Marine Surveying 2 years  
 
  • B.E. in Marine Engg../ Naval Arch/ Mechanical Engg.   Note: Candidates may pre-apply on line through our website www.ametindia.com. If successful at entrance tests and interviews, medical examination, will be carried out, at AMET Kanathur, by a doctor appointed by AMET, duly approved by Director General of Shipping, Government of India. The total cost of Medical Examination is RS 1300/-, which is to be born by the candidate. Results of medical examination will be declared one day after Laboratory tests and X-rays are taken. Candidates will also be required to pass the Merchant Marine Personality Evaluation Test conducted by Director General of Shipping at NIPM, Uthandi by paying Rs. 100 as fees for this test.  
     
  Candidates should make their own arrangements for their stay at Chennai during entry formalities. The entire selection procedure is expected to take between 2 to 3 days, between 25th May to 27th May 2008.  
     
  Candidates must produce Original Mark Sheets (10th and 12th) Transfer Certificate and Conduct Certificate on arrival at AMET for tests and interviews.
