  Academy of Maritime Education and Training has launched a new MBA programme in collaboration with Tamil Nadu Open University based in Chennai, India. The MBA course with Specialization in Shipping Logistics Management will be delivered through distance learning / E-learning mode.  
     
  Objective of the Course:  
     
 
  • To equip the students with adequate skills and knowledge in General Management functional areas and in the Shipping and Logistics business sectors.
  • To provide a holistic view of the sector, integrating various aspects viz, Ship Management, Liner Shipping, Ship Agency Management, Port & Terminal Management, Maritime Law, Maritime Economics, Freight Forwarding, Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
  • To help participants to meet their personal expectations by providing an industry-specific content which helps them to gain a thorough understanding of the Maritime business.
  • To provide opportunities for undertaking employment oriented projects which will facilitate a career change option to the seafarers.

1. Any degree from a recognized University.

2.Mariners holding the following professional qualification obtained after  a minimum duration of study-cum-training of 6 years after 10+2 leading to:
a) Master Foreign Going Certificate of Competency
b) First Class Motor or Steam or Combined (Chief Engineer) Certificate of Competency issued by the Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Government of India or its counterparts in other countries.

Payment of application form fee of Rs. 700 should be made in the form of a Demand draft drawn in favour of Tamil Nadu Open University, payable in Chennai, India.

Is it compulsory to attend the contact classes?

No. It is optional. If participants are unable to attend classes, they have to visit the course website at least once a week & obtain details of assignments posted. Submission of assignments will be adequate for securing continuous assessment marks.
The study materials will be dispatched in 3 installments. Term End examinations will be held 2 times in a year in various centers in Tamil Nadu viz. Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Tuticorin, etc.
The first set of examinations will be held by Dec 2007. If a participant is unable to appear for Dec examinations, he / she can appear for the same papers during June 2008.
